For Steve, Karen and their entire Barrs family, faith in Christ is the most important part of their lives. It guides them from all that they do, from how to raise their family, how to run their business, where to invest in community and if they should make big leaps (of faith) into big decisions in life.
God’s word – the Bible – is God’s love story, filled with His instructions and His promises for today. It’s not about religion. Rather, it’s about a true relationship – with the one who made us – who made us with a special purpose for our life.
The Barrs cling to His promises like Jeremiah 29:12-13: For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you declares the Lord.
“We are thankful that we have received God’s gift of faith, and that we get to walk with Him and live in the redemptive power of Jesus,” Steve will tell you.
“That is true peace…..even in the midst of life’s hardest problems.”
As for Little England Farm itself, “we’ve been given the opportunity to live here,” Karen will tell you. “Being a steward of something means I need to take care of it, and have it to pass along to the next generation.”
You see, “this is all the Lord’s. For a short time we’re taking a turn at taking care of this place. We didn’t build it. We can’t take credit for it. It’s just our turn to take care of it.”
